[She wonders who, but she doesn't ask.]

Boston Common. It was a big park, just a fifteen minute walk from my old apartment. It's a nice place.
dog_eat_dog: <user name=quarantinezone> (here comes the shame)

Sorry, I forgot you were so delicate.

[Tess grins and plugs it into the console. The Enclosure spins up a manicured green lawn around a white bandstand with tall columns, with paths running from it in seven directions like a wagon wheel. Trees all around, and blue-glass skyscrapers peeking out beyond them.

Crazy, seeing it again –– it's like stepping into a memory, but an impersonal one.]

dog_eat_dog: (truth is i somehow lost 'em)

Close. [She turns as she walks, walking backwards, reorienting herself –– North, North-East... she points. Boston's not a very tall city, and there isn't anything of note to be seen past the trees in that direction.]

Fifteen minutes, yeah. I had an apartment in the North End. Just up the street from the Paul Revere house.
dog_eat_dog: (take the heat and retreat)

It was nice. Lots of history. My family's house was out in the suburbs, so I wasn't downtown all the time, but it's all home.

[She helps spread it out, bending over at the waist, hair falling in her face.]

Where would you want to grow up?

dog_eat_dog: (and it's a sad sad world)

[personal profile] dog_eat_dog 2021-03-01 02:11 am (UTC)(link)
[She sits down too, leant on one hand, eyeing the food. It looks good.]

Plenty of places you could do that, at least. Here, even. Walk for an hour and there's Carson Beach, and Pleasure Beach. You like to swim?
dog_eat_dog: (do you get lonely?)

[personal profile] dog_eat_dog 2021-03-01 02:33 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, but there's a few good weeks in July.

[She takes her cup and the food and smiles a little thanks; it all smells delicious.]

This time of year, it might kill you. Winters here are pretty miserable.
dog_eat_dog: (you know I still like you the most)

[personal profile] dog_eat_dog 2021-03-01 02:54 am (UTC)(link)
A week shy of nineteen.

[She pops a bite in her mouth. It's good.]

[She gives a little chuckle under her breath. What would he know about teenagers in the 2000s, huh?]

Went to school. Had a couple part time jobs I got fired from. I ran away from home a couple times, drove my dad and brother insane trying to keep up with me. They did pretty good, though.
dog_eat_dog: (why did I come here?)

[personal profile] dog_eat_dog 2021-03-01 03:19 am (UTC)(link)
Steve, yeah? I don't think we've really met on the Barge.

[Then again, she hadn't met Jake, either.]

You guys keeping touch?
dog_eat_dog: (truth is i somehow lost 'em)

[personal profile] dog_eat_dog 2021-03-02 04:33 am (UTC)(link)
Well, that’s kind of him. Who doesn’t love blowing things up?
dog_eat_dog: (just as it was being built)

[personal profile] dog_eat_dog 2021-03-02 05:34 am (UTC)(link)
That must have been a pain.

[She glances at it.]

What else does it do other than blow things up?
dog_eat_dog: (it's so hard these days)

[personal profile] dog_eat_dog 2021-03-04 03:29 am (UTC)(link)
[Alien abductions. It's an uncomfortable thing to think about, and she feels tempted to dance right by the threat of the non-human, the other, but she sits with that and shrugs it off, smiling.]

It's the biggest story you have.
dog_eat_dog: (where you don't see me)

[personal profile] dog_eat_dog 2021-03-04 04:33 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah? How much did you get away with?

(no subject)
